BIRD IS THE WORD!

Hey hey hey! We´ve been away, but thou shalt not worry, we´re here to stay. That was my morning poem after sleeping for four hours (damned spring cold, getting between the girl and her beauty sleep), so please excuse the badness of it. Yeah.

Anyhow - a busy busy Bitty-spring is nearing its end, an even busier May month. We´ve been having a mini-tour with Sweet Jeena and Her Sweethearts on their record release parties in Tampere and Helsinki - the above video is from Helsinki, late April; there´s still one more show to go, in Lutakko, Jyväskylä (we´ve never been to Jyväskylä for a show!) next week´s Friday, 17th May. (I´m seriously tempted to top that off with a "Hooray!" to rhyme with "May", but thinking better of it.)

As some of you might remember, we used to do shows with Sweet Jeena and her sweet boys back in time - well, it would seem that those time are coming back in a way, so more gigs together are to be expected. Needless to say, we´re thrilled. After all, our first years were very busy with the monthly rock clubs Club Wanted & Blues Trash Cabaret, in which we were "the house band", that is, "the house burlesque". We´ve been missing that - there´s a laid-back attitude in performing at rock clubs, and of course, the audience is a tad bit different from the burlesque event audience. Both are good! So we´re happy to say that both seem to be on our agenda again.

Quite a few other things have been on our agenda as well, but more on them later. I will now go and doze off in a corner before I have to officially wake up and meet my co-Bitties at Raspberry Fields for our morning rehearsals...

THE TOURETTES

As the "Godfather of Finnish Manlesque", Frank Doggenstein, celebrated his birthday party last weekend in a quite splendid manner and fashion, we of course wanted to give him a suitable birthday present... this being a surprise collaboration of us Bitties and our dearest Thee Dizzy Daisies. And, well, here´s the outcome, now also known as "The Tourettes". We had a great big heap of fun doing that... and no, it´s not safe for viewing at work, just so´s you know. ;)

ANAPHYLAXIS

Let us continue on the inspiration road!

Today´s pick is my personal favourite, Anna Fur Laxis with her absolutely sassy, naughty-but-nice, fun and inventive magician routine we witnessed at The Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas last June. She was the First Runner-Up for Miss Exotic World and as you can see, the title was well-deserved!




And dear gods, IS she hot or what. I´d marry her in an instant.

HADI HADI HADI HO

Inga Ingenue at Viva Las Vegas weekender's burlesque competition, which she won.

We - and now I am not only referring to my royal Cherry self but to us as a group - think that if you're going to do classic burlesque you have to do it with a twist and just not plain sassyness. I love this number as it's kind of classic and kind of not. And she moves so well to the music!

We got to see this live in June in Vegas as Inga was performing at the same night as we did.

ON THE RADIO/ THE SHORTEST WORKSHOP IN THE WORLD!

Today I - Cherry- was a guest at Radio X3M, the nation wide radio channel for Swedish speaking youngsters and youth minded, to speak a bit about burlesque and how we like to do it. The show can't be heard on line anymore, but you can however see a little mini clip of me burlesque coaching the radio hosts afterwards; a minute and fifty-two second long funny little work shop if you so like :D

WE WERE THE ART THAT WENT TO KAPAKKA

LOLA AND THE GRAVEMEN / BLUES TRASH CABARET

The Gravemen : Let's Dance. Shot at the Blues Trash Cabaret club at bar Loose in June this year. You can see bits of Lola's shaking her behind in her Big Bottoms number!

We perform regularly at the Blues trash Cabaret-club. The monthly club started were Club Wanted, Finland's first -and only- monthly burlesque club ended. Were Wanted focused on rockabilly and burlesque, BTC gives a wider range of interesting music -past performers have been such as Reverend Beat Man, Hola Ghost and Dead Elvis. And it's not your everyday portion of burlesque offered either!

The club started out in Lepakkomies and then moved on to Bar Loose. From August on until the end of the year the venue will take place at On The Rocks. As said, we perform as the "in-house burlesque group", but at September's gig we'll let Missy Macabre take over the stage.

Blues Trash Cabaret is the first Saturday of every month.

ART GOES KAPAKKA

THere are still a few days left of the Helsinki City Festival Art Goes Kapakka, and we will once again contribute and add a little sparkle to it. To be more exact: tomorrow night, Thursday August 26th, at Manala! Our show will be at 00:30. Before that you can see drag artist Pola Ivanka perform with her band.
